The Department of Pharmacy Practice, N.E.T. Pharmacy College organized a guest lecture on “Clinical Research – Career & Scope” in the AV Hall of central library on 11th April 2019. Dr. H Doddayya presided over the function. Sri Mahesh Silveri, Director, XCEL Career Institute, Hyderabad, Telangana was the chief guest & resource person & Dr. RH Udupi, Prof & Head, Dept. of Ph. Chemistry, Dr. Shiv Kumar, Prof. & Head, Dept. of Pharmacy Practice were Present on the dais as guest of honor & Convener respectively. The formal function was inaugurated with lamp lighting by the dignitaries on the dais. Mrs. Nimmy John, Asst. Prof., welcomed the gathering and also introduced resource person. Dr. H. Doddayya in his presidential remarks expressed that there is lot of scope for pharmacy graduates in the field of clinical research and today’s guest lecture would definitely elaborate the various roles of pharmacy graduates in clinical research. He also requested the resource person to assist our students in their future placements. On this occasion, the Pharma Focus – departmental quarterly newsletter (Vol IV, Issue III) was also released by the dignitaries on the dais. Dr. Rahul, lecturer proposed the vote of thanks. Miss Madhuri prayed the god by invocation song. Miss. Neethu John anchored the conduct of the programme. The programme was attended by Pharm.D interns, V Pharm.D & Final B.Pharm students.
After the refreshment break, Sri. Mahesh Silveri delivered the presentation on current status of clinical research in India and also told in detail the various fields of clinical research in which the Pharm.D graduates and B.Pharm graduates are having placement opportunities such as
- Clinical trial Management
- Clinical Data Documentation
- Pharmacovigilance
- Medical Writing
- Regulatory Affairs
He also told that, clinical research job aspirants would need exclusive training on these modules after completing their graduation. The XCEL career institute is one such academy providing ISEP certified training course in these modules and is based at Hyderabad & Bengaluru. He also told that, around 2000+ students have been trained successfully by his institute and many got placed in various clinical research organizations like IQVIA, Covance, Bioclinica etc.
The lecture was very much informative and well appreciated by all the Pharm.D interns and V Pharm.D & final B. Pharm students. The programme ended with interactive session.
