DISSEMINATION CUM TRAINING ON
ICMR NATIONAL ETHICAL GUIDELINES -2017

It was a one day Dissemination cum Training on ICMR National Ethical Guidelines – 2017 held on 07th March, Organized by Indian Council of Medical Research and National Centre for Disease Informatics and Research at Gadag Institute of Medical Sciences, Gadag, Karnataka
The programme was inaugurated at 9.30 and a keynote address was given by Dr. Ravindra, Dr. Raju joins IEC team, Director and Principal GIMS
The Dissemination Cum Training started with first session (10 -10.45 am) by Dr. Vasantha Muthuswamy, Former Senior Deputy Director and Chief of Division of Basic Medical Sciences, Traditional medicine & Bioethics and Division of Reproductive Health & Nutrition of ICMR on topic “Ethical Aspects of Research in Traditional System of Medicine”. She spoke about the Traditional medical ethics rules for good physician, National Ethical Guidelines for Biomedical & Health Research, for Pediatrics Research & Stem cell Research etc.
The second session (10:45-11.15am) was given by Dr. Nandhini K Kumar, Former Deputy General Senior Grade of ICMR On “Ethical Aspects of Research in Traditional System of Medicine”. She spoke about Research methodology in Ayush, Indian Guidelines & Regulations for Ayurveda , Siddha, Unani, Safety of Herbals in Modern times etc.
After tea break, the third session (11:30AM-12:15PM) was continued by Dr. Urmila Thatte, Professor and Head at Department of Clinical Pharmacology, Seth GS Medical College and KCM Hospital. She gave information about “Informed Consent Process”. The fourth session (12:15-1:00pm) was given by Dr. Padmaja Marathe Professor Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics at Seth GS Medical College and KCM Hospital, on topic “Ethical Committee Roles & Review Procedures”.
After lunch break the session was continued on topic “Regulatory and Academic Clinical Trials”. The Dissemination Cum Training day was ended by vote of thanks and Hi-Tea.
